Cognitive Restructuring Training helps to identify and improve the automatic (unconscious) thought process to help in reducing the flood of stressful emotions that come from cognitive distortions ("stinkin' thinkin'"). Dr. Flegal is a dynamic teacher who makes learning these techniques straightforward and easy.

Mind/Body Applications are individualized approaches to using the Stress Management Skills you will learn as they work best in your particular case. Dr. Flegal has experience using these techniques successfully with patients who have needed help with:

Exercise Physiology is the scientific application of exercise to each individual. Dr. Flegal has worked with individuals ranging from elite athlete (in the university setting) to those recovering from heart attack and cardiac by-pass surgery (in the hospital cardiac rehabilitation setting). Additionally, appropriately applied exercise is a wonderful tool to compliment your stress management efforts. Let Dr. Flegal help you design an exercise program for you . . .

Counseling Sessions - The first session usually lasts between 90 minutes to 2 hoursFollow-up sessions usually last no more than 90 minutes. These are intensive skill-building sessions during which clients learn:

bulletbetter recognition of their stress and stressors.
bulletrelaxation skills.
bulletcognitive restructuring skills.
bulletstrategies for applying their new skills in the real world.

Clients usually begin with 4-5 sessions to have adequate time to learn and practice skills . . . more sessions are available if desired or needed.

Holistic Counseling, tailored to your concerns, promotes self-healing and a genuine sense of aliveness by exploring the opportunities to create the life you really want. In emotional healing, we explore blockages to your happiness and fulfillment. If you have physical illness, we find ways to use your mind and emotions to assist you in healing. While this approach does not promote "mind-over-matter," it does value the powerful roles of the mind and emotions in healing.
